A Few Favourites From Spring 2018 Ready-To-Wear

Hi guys, I'm back with a new post, one that I've been wanting to share for a while but University has got me SO busy that I haven't had the time to work on this and share it until now. This post, as you might have already read from the title - features FOUR of all my favourites ready-to-wear collections for Spring 2018, also it's been so long since my last "a few favourites" recap(?) almost two years to be precise.

Moving onto the post, my first favourite collection is Jacquemus, the entire collection is completely amazing, beautiful, simple, PERFECTION!

The whole collection was inspired by his mom whom he lost at such a young age, she was the main inspiration to design this as well as it was the sea and the sun in the South of France, all because of a picture he stumbled upon and memories from a childhood started to come back, pieces included draped asymmetric shapes, swathed into tulip skirts or side-knotted, plunging tops, tiny, skinny straps, lots of earthy tones as for more of a summer feeling, which I completely adore and I've been obsessed with.

Another thing I loved where the HATS as well as the long V necks cuts in the front and the back, would I wear it? that's the question, I would feel nakey and that I'm showing too much skin yet I would definitely go for it. :)

This is one brand I've always loved and felt kind of curious about, it takes me back to my history classes I took at Uni but I also have admired the story that lies behind this brand, the fact that Donatella took the creative direction of what her brother built in his own after his brutal murder without she even knowing anything about it, it's truly amazing, and this is where I get all sentimental, and once again another collection inspired by a loved one, although this time, Gianny was also an icon, one who will be always remembered.

This is what the collection is about, inspired to make tribute and celebrate an icon, her brother based on what he did taking notes on the key prints and pieces from the years 1991–95. It shows the best of his work, one Donatella tried to re-create as well as showing unique pieces that could not be replicated.

A brand I started following a while but not long ago, I felt in love with the brand instantly, I've always felt somewhat connected to it, I don't know why, I've been following their IG very religiously and have loved everything about their collections but I felt in love with this one, I mean I love them all, but as a designer myself I've always been keen to details and this brand it's all into it but for this season it left aside the embellishments and went for another type of details like crochet, flared sleeves, and there were even some striped knitwear that followed along.

Once again, the collection was inspired by going back to her roots, revisiting the Gold Coast in her home country in Australia turning the collection into something fun and it's somehow between into spring yet summer. I personally love it, a collection and pieces I would wear too, and the fact that there's sneakers included, makes it even prettier yet comfortable above all.

Throughout the years, VB has become in one of my style icons - not that I have many tho - I love the simplicity of her looks and how amazing she looks, and little by little she has created her own signature style, one I've been influenced with and inspired by. Living by the "less is more" and "simplicity is the key" mottos, but y'all know that.

Her collection was all about feminity, delicacy along with so much whimsy. Loved the "flowy" pieces as well as the colour palette which also included pastel hues and plaid and stripes, moiré patterns/prints.

To conclude, I loved the fact that most of these were inspired by something so dear and close to them, I feel like this was something that made me fall in love even more with the collections, it's not the pieces, but the story that lies behind it. My professors and friends, we call it the 12-15 minutes of fame because that's what a catwalk is suppossed to last, and people just sit to enjoy the show but rarely get to know the process of creation, the many hours we put in there, days of stress and frustration, and so much more. and as designer we're influenced and inspired by oh, so many things. Call it whether it's about a culture, politics, wars, a painting, architecture, or simply a memory from the past.

Do you have a favourite collection from Fashion Week? Which one is it? Let me know in the comment box below and hope you've enjoyed this post! :)

PS: Once again, sorry for the radio silence that went here for almost a month!

Until next time! xx
