One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. — Henry Miller
Throwback Thursday to 2011 when I went to Santa Marta. - For some reason, I never shared these photos, or maybe I did but since I didn't back up the archives I might have lost them at some point. Today I stumbled upon them, re-edited them to publish them over my b&w photography portfolio, which you can see/follow if you like it, anyway three years later I'm posting it in here with some highlights, kind of like a review, so here I go. . .
Like said in the previous post (same, part 1) I stayed at Hotel Decameron Galeón in Santa Marta, like all the Decameron Hotels, service was quite good, really good, the beach is private, I so love it, it was so peaceful and I want to go back there some time soon! Differently from Playa Bocagrande in Cartagena, I must add that is clean(er) and there are no street-vendors bothering tourists every 5 minutes, or should I say 5 seconds (?), okay, they do have it, but there are (were) only two when I went there and they were part of the staff, a woman who should sell the sweet treats and a man who would sell the souvenirs, both at the beach.
Back to the Decameron Hotels, they all provide shows and activities by the pool as well, which at that time I never got to see them because we were all little fishes tired after swimming at the beach and pool, and jumping from one to an other. BUT, I witnessed those shows, in Cartagena in 2012 (once again, that post got lost, sorry, shame on me) they were amazing, a way to entertain tourists and know each other, perhaps?
The hotel has many restaurants and bars and here are some I tried during my 3-day trip. :)
Breakfast at Restaurante Wuayuu
At Wuayuu, you'll always have breakfast and lunch and as the bread-lover I am, all those breads were so yummy for my tummy. Nom nom!
The food was really delicious, and I love it, plus this place is so calm and very relaxing. Well, the whole place is so relaxing. . . Next!
Restaurante Rococó
OMG, This place. . . I swear that this is the most amazing seafood restaurant I've ever been to, even though fish and I aren't best friends at all. - This restaurant only opens at night, for dinner which you have to book starting from 6-7pm. I had Robalo with French Fries, oh, it was just too yummy. The service was really really good too and from 1 to 10, I'll give it 100. ;) Can't wait to have dinner there!
Restaurante Panasiático
I didn't have the chance to go here tho, this is an Oriental restaurant, so if you're in the lookout for sushi, this is the right place to go, it's the only one tho. . . haha! Next!
Restaurante El Rancho
This restaurant also opens at night, for dinner, which you also have to book, I didn't like the food I got here, I asked for chicken breast and got the chicken thigh instead with a sauce that I wasn't content with at all, it was actually a small portion, that even a baby would eat. . . Not happy with what I got there.
Restaurant Mamma Mia
Not in the pictures but this is an Italian restaurant which same like the Wuayuu, opened for breakfast and lunch, I had spaghetti but didn't like the sauce at all, so actually had another bad experience with food again.
View from the balcony (?)
We booked our trip, once we got there, the check in was at 1pm or 3pm? Anyway, there was no room for us, as the guide started showing us the place while making the waiting more appealing, we saw some small houses, that were cabaña houses of three floors, we asked him if we could also stay in there, and he said yes, he checked out for one which was available et voilá, we had a new place to stay in, instead that 'boring' hotel room we never got to meet/stay in. This cabaña houses are up to four (4) guests, and we were actually four, perfect for us!
One downside is that, we were (literally) locked as we had no place to go to, differently from Cartagena, when you can have walks and even go to the downtown, but on the other side everything was good!

And that's it! This was my throwback thursday / experience at Hotel Decameron Galeón. Can't wait to go back there!
Watch out: The thoughts / reviews shared here are my very own, honest and personal one, this was three years ago tho!
Until next time! XO, Melissa
