Beauty of Joseon— 조선미녀 리뷰

 

I am finally back with a new post and today I will be talking about beauty, especifically Beauty of Joseon. I have had this post in my drafts for a very long time and I never got to share it here on the blog and I do not even know why, so after lots of thinking I decided it was best to finish working on all of my drafts posts and that's how I happen to share this personal and honest review post four years later now. 

I also would like to add a little disclaimer that all thoughts and opinions are my own, at the same time, both of these products I happened to win them in a giveaway (again, a while ago) held by the brand itself on Instagram (back in 2020) so, everything said will be subjectively from my very own experience with the product itself. With this, I do not intend to push or recommend this product, as I know quite well, that if a product works on someone else doesn't mean it will also work for you. I am just sharing my personal experience and that's about it. 

WHO'S BEAUTY OF JOSEON? 

A South Korean beauty brand that creates skincare using Hanbang, traditional Korean medicine ingredients. Their products aim to provide comfort and relaxation to the skin. With a strong stance against animal testing, their sunscreens are designed to meet various skin needs.

ES: De vuelta con un nuevo post, y hoy estaré hablando de 'belleza', especificamente de la marca Beauty of Joseon. He tenido este posts guardado en mis borradores por un largo tiempo y nunca tuve la oportunidad de compartirlo aquí en blog, ni siquiera tengo idea del por qué, pero después de mucho pensar decidí que era mejor terminarlo y publicarlo, así es como hoy les traigo esta publicación con una reseña personal y honesta. 

Antes de ello, me gustaría mencionar que todas las opiniones son mías, del mismo modo que ambos de estos productos fueron un obsequio / regalo de la marca, ya que había participado en un giveaway que ellos mismos hicieron a través de su cuenta de Instagram (recalco, que esto fue hace 4 años) así que todo lo que mencione y/o diga será desde un punto subjetivo y desde mi propia experiencia con dicho producto. No pretendo impulsar o recomendar este producto porque sé muy bien que lo que funciona para alguien más no significa que funcionará para uno. Sólo estoy compartiendo mi experiencia y eso es todo. 

¿QUIÉN ES BEAUTY OF JOSEON?

Una marca de belleza de Corea del Sur que crea productos para el cuidado de la piel utilizando Hanbang, ingredientes de la medicina tradicional coreana. Sus productos tienen como objetivo aportar confort y relajación a la piel. Con una fuerte postura contra el testeo en animales, sus protectores solares están diseñados para satisfacer diversas necesidades de la piel.

Glow Serum: Propolis & Niacinamide—

What it is? This serum is made for those struggling with enlarged pores and skin inflammation. With a blend of 60% propolis extract and 2% niacinamide, it skillfully manages sebum production while ensuring your skin remains hydrated.

¿Qué es? Este suero está hecho para quienes luchan contra la inflamación de la piel y los poros dilatados. Con una mezcla de 60 % de extracto de propóleo y 2 % de niacinamida, gestiona hábilmente la producción de sebo mientras garantiza que la piel permanezca hidratada.

KEY INGREDIENTS — INGREDIENTES CLAVES:

• Propolis extract 60%: There is a record that women in the Joseon Dynasty used honey and grain powder as a wash-off mask pack to care for their skin. As a skincare ingredient, proplis extract is effective for hydrating the skin improving inflammed skin.
• Niacinamide 2%: Among the various effects of niacinamide, it is especially helpful in controlling sebum secretion and maintaining the oil and moisture balance of the skin.
• BHA 0.5%: As a fat-soluble exfoliant, it helps to remove sebum and wastes accumulated in the pores.

• Extracto de Propóleo 60%: Hay registros de que las mujeres de la dinastía Joseon utilizaban miel y polvo de cereales como mascarilla lavable para cuidar su piel. Como ingrediente para el cuidado de la piel, el extracto de proplis es eficaz para hidratar la piel y mejorar la piel inflamada.
• Niacinamida 2%: Entre los diversos efectos de la niacinamida, es especialmente útil para controlar la secreción de sebo y mantener el equilibrio de grasa y humedad de la piel.
• BHA 0.5%: Como exfoliante liposoluble, ayuda a eliminar el sebo y los desechos acumulados en los poros.

Besides of it being cruelty-free and a fragrance-free product, it has a honey-like thick texture, but once on the skin it does absorbs quickly and does not leave a sticky feeling. The bottle is small and contains 30ml, which could be said to be very little, but to be fairly honest that amount of product lasted about 3 months for me.

USE: I used it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT after washing my face. I ONLY applied this product and nothing else. 2-3 drops and that was all I needed, patting gently to aid absorption and it was the perfect amount for both my face and neck area. 

Note: You can use it day and night, but I didn't use it during the day because since it contains 0.5% BHA, you need to apply sunscreen which at that time I didn't have it, so night time worked best for me. 

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

1. I never had any allergic reactions to it.
2. I never felt my skin oilier than normal or very shiny either, instead it felt very soft and hydrated. 
3. It was my holy grail every time I got a pimple, aka those that are painful and you can't see them but they're there. Well, this serum was my 'remedy' for it. In a matter of 1-3 days they would completely 'disappear'. 
4. I really noticed changes in my skin, it got better, there was still some little bumps and texture here and there but my skin looked completely different to before using this product and I dare to say there was improvement. 

Aparte de ser un producto libre de crueldad y sin fragancia, tiene una textura expesa tipo como la miel, y una vez en la piel se absorbe rápido y no la deja con esa sensación 'sticky' (pegajosa). El envase contiene 30ml, lo cual podría decirse que es muy poco producto, pero a mi eso me duró alrededor de 3 meses, así que creo que está bien. 

USO: Usaba este suero TODAS LAS NOCHES después de lavarme mi cara. SÓLO aplicaba este producto y de 2-3 gotas era más que suficiente tanto para la cara como para el cuello. 

Nota: Puedes usarlo tanto para el día como la noche, pero en mi caso yo no lo usé en el día ya que como contiene 0.5% BHA, debes aplicar protector solar, y para ese entonces yo no tenía así que solo lo usaba en la noches. 

MIS PRIMERAS IMPRESIONES Y EXPERIENCIA:

1. Nunca presenté reacción alérgica alguna.
2. NO dejó mi piel ni más oleosa de lo normal, ni mucho menos brillante, al contrario, mi piel se sentía mas suave e hidratada.
3. Era mi aliado no.1 cada que me salían granitos que son dolorosos, que a simple vistan no se ven pero que duelen, bueno este suero fue mi remedio para ello. En cuestión de 1-3 días, desaparecían por completos. 
4. Sin duda alguna logré ver cambios en mi piel, aún tenía uno que otro granito y textura, pero mi piel se veía completamente diferente a lo que era antes de usar este producto y me atrevo a decir que mejoró y me ayudó mucho con el 'acné'. 

FINAL THOUGHTS

As you can see from the image, despite this being the only product I used and ONLY at nights and nothing else, I could still be able to get some noticeable changes. I've never suffered from nor had acne, sometimes I get a zit once in a while before getting my period but my skin has always had this 'texture' you see in the images which I get during heat wave aka summer. With this serum, it kind of helped get rid of it *NOT COMPLETELY* (since the product lasted about 2 months or so) but majority of it, my skin was healthier and had this natural glow. As you can see in the 3rd image (after 2 months), my skin was clearer too. Texture was minimized but of course there was definitely a change and I dare to say a huge one. 

Fast foward to 2024 aka four years later, I stand by my thoughts and since I've never been familiar with skincare or anything like that, I really loved not only this product but the brand itself and if I ever have the chance (and money) to once again try their porducts out, I will do it without thinking twice. I'm very keen to try the rest of their product range, specially their sunscreen. Also, I'm not  going to lie but I was a tad bit skeptical of trying this on my face, one because it was an ingredient I was yet not familiar with and two, because my skin is one of a kind, and not all products are suitable for it, even if I have combo skin, it's still sensible and prone to get an allergic reaction, that's another reason why I do not do skincare unless I go see my trusted dermatologist. 

OPINIÓN FINAL

Como puedes ver en la imagen, a pesar de ser el único producto que usé y que SÓLO usé por las noches y nada más, aún pude obtener algunos cambios notables. Nunca he sufrido ni he tenido acné como tal, a veces me sale un grano de vez en cuando antes de mi período, pero mi piel siempre ha tenido esta "textura" que ves en las imágenes que obtengo durante la ola de calor, también conocida como verano. Con este suero, me ayudó a deshacerme de esa textura *NO COMPLETAMENTE* (ya que el producto duró aproximadamente 2 meses), pero en su mayoría, mi piel estaba más saludable y tenía este brillo/glow natural. Y así tal cual puedes ver en la tercera imagen (después de 2 meses), mi piel también estaba más clara. Se minimizó la textura pero, por supuesto, definitivamente hubo un cambio y me atrevo a decir uno enorme o por lo menos, para mí. 

De vuelta al 2024, es decir, cuatro años después, mantengo firme mi opinión respecto a este producto y como nunca he estado familiarizado con el cuidado de la piel ni nada de eso, realmente me encantó no solo este producto sino también la marca en sí y si alguna vez tengo la oportunidad (y el dinero) de volver a probar uno de sus productos, lo haré sin pensarlo dos veces. Tengo muchas ganas de probar el resto de sus productos y en especial su protector solar. Además, no voy a mentir, pero tenía un poco de escepticismo al probar y untar esto en mi cara, uno porque era un ingrediente que aún no conocía y dos, porque mi piel es única, y no todos los productos son adecuados para ella, aunque tenga la piel mixta, sigue siendo sensible y propensa a tener una reacción alérgica, esa es otra razón por la que no hago cuidados de la piel a menos que vaya a ver a mi dermatólogo de confianza.

Centella Asiatica Calming Mask

I have tried a very few sheet masks but one of things I noticed right away after opening the packaging firstly was how much product it has and when I say a lot, it was really a lot of it, and not only in the sheet mask but also on the package which you can then use later and secondly, the mask is very thin and soft as well, the material of it is completely different to the ones I've used before and in my opinion this one was a lot more better and gentle, in fact, felt like I was wearing nothing at all. 

USE: The instruction says you can put it on up to around 10-20mins or even more since it has lots of product and it does not dry out that fast. I also added product before putting this sheet mask on, it was a little tip I learned and wanted to give it a try and it made my whole self / skin care routine experience much better. But you can do it before or after, whichever works best for you.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND MY EXPERIENCE:

1. It has lots of products and the sheet mask is very thin, you can barely feel it when you put it on.
2. It really soothed my skin. It felt hydrated, in fact I did this late in the evening and went to bed right afterwards and slept comfortably. 
3. I did not get any allergic reactions to it. 

He probado muy pocas mascarillas (sheet masks), pero una de las cosas que noté inmediatamente después de abrir el paquete fue la cantidad de producto que tenía y cuando digo mucho, en realidad era mucho, y no solo en la mascarilla, sino también en el empaque, el cual puedes usar más tarde y en segundo lugar, la máscarilla también es muy delgada y suave, el material es completamente diferente a los que he usado antes y en mi opinión esta era mucho mejor, de hecho me sentí como si no estuviera usando nada en absoluto.

USO: Las instrucciones dicen que puedes ponértelo hasta por 10-20 minutos o incluso más ya que tiene mucho producto y no se seca tan rápido. También agregué producto antes de ponerme esta mascarilla, fue un pequeño consejo que aprendí y quería probarlo e hizo que toda mi experiencia de rutina de cuidado personal y de la piel fuera mucho mejor. Pero puedes hacerlo antes o después, lo que te funcione mejor.

PRIMERAS IMPRESIONES Y MI EXPERIENCIA

1. Tiene mucho producto y la mascarilla es muy fina, apenas se siente cuando te la pones.
2. Realmente calmó mi piel. Me sentí hidratado, de hecho me la coloqué a eso de las 6pm - 6:30pm más o menos y después me fui a la cama inmediatamente y dormí cómodamente.
3. No tuve ninguna reacción alérgica.
